During this 10 day tour of the highlights of Vietnam you will really get a feel for this diverse country. You will visit the cities of Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh. You make an overnight cruise in Halong Bay, where you can marvel at the unique rock formations in the sea. You’ll visit the charming town of Hoi An, where you can wander through the narrow streets lined with traditional houses. You finish this trip off in the south in the largest city in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh, with a visit to the Mekong Delta.
10 day tour of Vietnam:
Route: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Hue – Hoi An – Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta
Day 1: Arrival Hanoi
Chao Ban! Welcome to Hanoi! You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Take the day to exlpore Hanoi, or relax in your hotel.
Day 2: City Tour Hanoi
Today begins with a visit to Uncle Ho and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Then visit the Temple of Literature and the site of the first university of Vietnam. Your lunch consists of Hanoi Pho, local noodle soup. In the afternoon you’ll travel by pedicab around Hoan Kiem lake, located in the middle of the fascinating old city of Hanoi. Finish the day with a visit to a water puppet show.
Day 3: Hanoi to Ha Long Bay, welcome to the boat
Together with other travellers you’ll be collected by minibus at your hotel and drive in about 4 hours to Halong Bay through the heart of the Red River Delta. At noon, you check in your private boat and accommodation for tonight. Halong Bay is one of the eight world wonders, comprising above thousand islands and islets. Enjoy a kayaking tour, and a seafood dinner onboard.
Day 4: Halong Bay to Hanoi – night train to Hue
Early risers can enjoy the sunrise and the breathtaking beauty of Halong Bay. After breakfast you can use a kayak or boat to Luon cave. After a last swim in the water it is time to sail back to the port and travel to Hanoi, where you board the overnight train to Hue.
Day 5: Discover Hue
In the early morning you arrive in Hue, and you’ll be taken to your hotel. Depart to visit the Forbidden City, and then embark on a biking tour to Thuy Bieu village (8km), an authentic village in the countryside around Hue. Enjoy the quiet landscape of Hue: rice fields, fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and small villages and get to know more about the lives of the villages. In the afternoon, you can choose to embark on a cruise down the Perfume River. Stop for a visit to typical Thien Mu Pagoda, a symbol of the romanticism of Hue (built in 1610) and round off your day with a visit Tu Duc Tobm.
Day 6: Hue to Hoi An
From Hue, drive towards Danang by the well-known and stunning Mandarin Road. On the top of the Ocean Cloud Pass, stop to enjoy the panoramic view over Danang and the surrounding areas. In Danang you can visit the Cham Museum, exposing antique articles of the former Cham Kingdom which lasted until the 16th century. At Cua Dai pier you go onboard and sail upstream on the Thu Bon River to follow the road of merchant ships in former times. Like the Chinese and Japanese boats in the 15th century, you will be surrounded by coconut palms, water palms and verdant gardens. Enjoy the nature, watch the activities of people on the shores and meet some fishermen fishing on the river. Stop for lunch at a restaurant near the old harbor of Hoi An. The afternoon you are free to visit Hoi An or relax at your hotel.
Day 7: Hoi An free day: optional bike ride and / or city tour
Take the day off to soak in the sights and sounds of Hoi An or choose for an optional excursion like a cycling tour and cooking class or a trip to My Son, the ancient capital of the Champa Kingdom.
Day 8: Flight to Ho Chi Minh City
Arrival Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning. Visit to the vivid economic capital of Vietnam, including the Reunification Palace, War Museum, and Central Post Office of Saigon. You can choose for an optional excursion outside of the city. The optional tour takes you to Tay Ninh and Cao Dai Great Temple, a place where people make sacrifices and believe in a separate mix of various religions. It is followed by a visit to the famous Cu Chi, where you learn about the tunnel system of the Viet Cong.
Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre – Ho Chi Minh
In the morning you depart for Ben Tre city. Here you begin your boat cruise on the Ham Luong river to Mỏ Cày. Explore the area with a visit to coconut processing workshops, or join in a fruit tasting and take a short walk in the village before boarding a sampan for a ride down the canal. Cruise to Ms Mai’s for a delicious lunch featuring some local specialties. After the meal, you can take your time exploring local life in the surrounding area and see Mr Bồng’s house farm rooster. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City; end of journey
Depending on your time of departure, spend one last morning strolling through the city. A driver will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the airport, in time to catch your flight home.
