Madagascar is an island with a fairly wide variety of climates. The country is therefore blessed with rainforests, mountains and steppes. These various landscapes and climates causes differences in the amounts of precipitation. A long ridge running centrally on the island, causes rain to fall mostly in the east, northeast and north. Which is why these areas have a tropical climate.

Because Madagascar is located in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed. However, there are only two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The temperatures, however, are almost the same all year round, with a temperature of about 30 degrees.

The hurricane season in Madagascar begins in December and lasts until mid-May. This country has the dubious honour of being one of the countries in the world where the chances are pretty high on experiencing hurricanes and tropical storms. Especially in the months of February and March, there is an increased risk of tropical depressions and hurricanes, and then especially on the East Coast.
