San José – Hotel Fleur de Lys
Hotel Fleur de Lys is a charming hotel in the centre of the city. It features a bar and a restaurant. Fleur de Lys is located in a building built in Victorian style and each room is named after a native flower.
Bocas del Toro – Playa Tortuga
Playa Tortuga Hotel & Beach is situated on the beach just outside of Bocas del Toro. From the hotel you have a view of Bocas del Toro on the other side of the bay. The hotel has a shuttle service to the city and there is a possibility to rent bikes to explore the surroundings. There are also opportunities for diving, snorkelling and surfing.
La Fortuna – Rancho Margot
Rancho Margot is a sustainable lodge in the rainforest of La Fortuna. It is located about 700 meters from the Caño Negro River and 3 km from the Arenal lake. The property consists of 17 bungalows, each with views of the Arenal Volcano. Each bungalow has its own bathroom and terrace and can accommodate 1 to 5 people. The restaurant serves organic cuisine and local specialties.
Monteverde – Los Pinos
Los Pinos is an eco-friendly hotel that consists of 16 different cabins for 2 to 6 people. Between the cabins is at least 75 meters each, so it is more private. Each cottage has a private terrace, kitchenette and bathroom. During your stay you can help harvest fresh vegetables from the garden. In Monteverde you can also find several restaurants.
Heredia – Sarapiquis
This property is located in the rainforest of Heredia. It consists of several rooms spreading across five major palenques which are covered with palm leaves. The palenques lies within the lush gardens and orchards. All rooms are brightly decorated and equipped. There is also a swimming pool in the garden.
La Selva Biological Station
Alternatively, you can stay in the Biological Station La Selva, where research is being done on the climate, flora and fauna of the rainforest. A basic accommodation, but perfect for birdwatchers. A special experience.
Rincon de la Vieja – Buena Vista Lodge
The Buena Vista Lodge is surrounded by extensive gardens and a private lake. The property consists of several wooden bungalows which have a rustic décor with views of the lake. The restaurant serves local dishes and a 30-minute drive will bring you to other eateries. Various eco-tourism activities are offered on site.
Punta Uva – Tree House Lodge
On the southern Caribbean coast but between the woods you will find the Tree House Lodge. This property consists of five different tree houses, each fully furnished. Nearby are several parks where you can enjoy the flora and fauna and the beach. The Tree House Lodge is mainly based on the concept of sustainability. So they have a CST certification, a certification for sustainable tourism.
Manuel Antonio – Hotel San Bada
This hotel is located at the entrance of the Parque Nacional manuel Antonio and is only a two minute walk from the beach. The hotel consists of 67 rooms, each fully furnished. Also, this property has a CST certification and practice different things to minimize causing damage to nature, culture and environment.
Heredia – Finca Rosa Blanca
Finca Rosa is located in Heredia, offering a very special and luxurious accommodation in an eco-coffee plantation. The accommodation consists of 12 different suites and two villas. During your stay you will get a tour of the coffee plantation and you are allowed unlimited use of the local and organic toiletries.
